Analysis
Susan Plum was raised in Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of 20. Her works are deeply spiritual and inspired by mythology. Carroza de Pajaros shows bees transported by a chariot moved by birds. This represents the roles of both these animals in mythology. Bees are messengers of the gods. They communicate the gods' messages to the birds, who then impart them to humanity. Glass holds deeper meaning in Plum's work. For her, glass "represents the 'ethereal,' something like solidified water or air, and both are synonymous with spirit."
