What we are witnessing is Imperialism in its most extreme form. The Judeo Empire has become frustrated that Iran has not surrendered so they are doing severe damage to civilians and infrastructure instead.
This temper tantrum is very dangerous and is costing countless lives and financial resources. It's unlikely Iran and its allies will surrender as that would be far worse and they have spent decades preparing for this scenario.
Iran still maintains military capabilities to launch missiles and drones as their bunkers are deep underground up to over 1000 feet and complex. At this point, all the Empire can do is carpet bombing which is likely to yield the same results as seen in Vietnam, Iraq, Gaza, Lebanon and etc.
Except this time with new rising powers like Russia and China; may be where the American Empire goes to die.
