Bahrain signed the Abraham Accords and recognized Israel in 2020, and since its exports to Israel increased at an annualized rate of 579%, growing from $48.2k in 2020 to $103M in 2024.As current Chair of the UN Security Council, Bahrain is pushing to protect commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, but Bahrain is not pushing Israel to end its illegal occupation of Palestine or even to allow at scale humanitarian aid into Gaza. Bahrain could be viewed as a puppet of the US.Bahrain exports sone $1.3 billion of goods to the US annually and hosts 2 US Naval facilities, including the home of the US 5th Fleet. The US provides Bahrain with more than $223 million in other assistance. In 2025 the Crown Prince of Bahrain (who also serves as Prime Minister) announced a combination of investments and commercial agreements with American companies tyotaling approximately $17 billion. The deals cover a wide range of sectors such as aviation, technology, manufacturing including:- a deal for Cisco Systems to provide digital infrastructure solutions that support the Bahraini government’s information and telecommunications systems;- plans for an 800-kilometer multifiber undersea cable to connect Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq with global network infrastructure;- $10.7 billion worth of investments in the United States by Bahraini financial institutions and private-sector companies;- the launch of direct commercial flights between Manama and New York City;- $2 billion in investments by Mumtalakat, Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, to develop downstream aluminum projects with U.S. companies.Bahrain seems to care more about commerce and fattening the royal purse than enforcing or complying with international human rights laws. Gulf monarchies which trade with Israel put profit over Palestinians.
