Mainstream media ignoring Pentagon leak footage – journalist (VIDEO)
US networks did not cover a video in which a nuclear safety officer spoke about Ukraine corruption and strikes on children in Iran, Michael Casey has told RTPublished 25 Apr, 2026 07:58 | Updated 25 Apr, 2026 09:00

Major US networks have turned a blind eye to an explosive undercover video in which a senior Pentagon official spoke about Ukraine’s rampant corruption and civilian casualties resulting from the war on Iran, O’Keefe Media Group journalist Michael Casey has told RT.

Speaking to RT on Friday, Casey weighed in on footage that O’Keefe Media Group released earlier this week, apparently showing Andrew Hugg, a Pentagon nuclear safety officer, revealing secrets to a woman he met on a dating app.

The official was recorded confirming that US airstrikes did cause collateral child casualties in Iran, discussing nerve agents stored in Maryland, and alleging that Ukrainian officials had pocketed US taxpayer funds going back to the Obama administration.

Following the release of the video, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that Hugg “won’t work here anymore,” calling the leaks “incredibly irresponsible and unpatriotic.” Despite the story rising to the level of the US defense chief, it has been largely absent from the US mainstream media.

Casey underscored the fact, saying that he was “surprised” by the lack of reporting on the subject. “Why have CNN, NBC, ABC not covered the story? I think they’re afraid of James O’Keefe, if you want the truth. They’re scared of being his next target.”

Casey also noted that it was “baffling” that a senior Pentagon official had spilled the beans on “very sensitive things regarding American foreign policy” to a complete stranger. “That opens the question: who else is he talking to? And it’s a very big national security issue,” he said, pointing to Hugg’s scramble to erase his digital footprint as a de facto admission of wrongdoing.

The journalist also singled out Hugg’s claims about the Ukraine corruption, saying that while they were “the most interesting parts of the exposé,” they were also “one of the least surprising.”

“It sounds like millions of taxpayer dollars dating back to the Obama administration were misused and taken into by Ukrainian oligarchs… Many people, specifically on the right, have for years been blowing the whistle, saying that money is being misused in Ukraine. Far too often, it has been dismissed as conspiracies,” he said.

O’Keefe Media Group was founded by controversial journalist James O’Keefe, whose modus operandi is to send undercover reporters on dates with their targets in order to record candid conversations. His former organization, Project Veritas, however, was repeatedly accused by critics of selectively editing footage to further a conservative agenda.

EU’s €90 billion ‘may not be enough’ for Ukraine – WSJ
Kiev requires another €19 billion to cover its budget needs in 2027, diplomats have told the outletPublished 25 Apr, 2026 21:18

The EU will have to provide more money to Ukraine next year on top of the newly approved €90 billion ($105 billion), the Wall Street Journal has reported, citing diplomatic sources.

On Thursday, Brussels announced that the interest-free loan to Kiev has been finalized and that it will begin disbursements “as soon as possible” in the second quarter of 2026. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed the development as “a good day for Ukraine and Europe.”

The approval came less than two weeks after the party of longtime Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has been vetoing the transfer of funds for months due to an energy dispute with Ukraine, suffered a defeat in the parliamentary election.

The WSJ reported in an article on Friday that the EU’s hopes that the money transfer will allow it to sustain Ukraine during the conflict with Russia until 2028 were likely in vain.

Diplomats who spoke to the outlet warned that the money allocated by Brussels “may not be enough.”

Kiev’s funding gap for 2027 has grown even further since the package was initially planned in December, they said.

Ukraine requires an extra €19 billion to cover its budget next year, meaning that the EU could be forced to seek a new multi-billion loan in 12 months, the diplomats stressed.

European Council head Antonio Costa said that Ukraine would only need to pay back the money after it receives reparations from Russia following the conclusion of conflict. Moscow has repeatedly rejected such a scenario, saying that it's “detached from reality.”

Russian MP, Dmitry Belik, who sits on the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee, told RIA Novosti that Costa understands perfectly well that Brussels is never getting its money back.

“The European Council head is talking about reparations from Russia only to save face. His words are just a sham. In reality, the €90 billion loan to Kiev is a gift, in the hopes of prolonging the military conflict for another year,” he said.

Trump cancels envoys’ trip to Pakistan for Iran talks
Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were reportedly set to fly to the country, while Tehran denied plans for any negotiationsPublished 25 Apr, 2026 21:07

US President Donald Trump has abruptly canceled a trip by special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to Pakistan. Tehran, however, denied that any talks were scheduled in the first place.

This decision comes just a day after the trip was promoted as a potential opportunity to revitalize negotiations with Iran.

“Too much time wasted on traveling, too much work! Besides which, there is tremendous infighting and confusion within their ‘leadership’. Nobody knows who is in charge, including them. Also, we have all the cards, they have none! If they want to talk, all they have to do is call!!!” he wrote on Truth Social on Saturday.

When asked by Axios if this means he plans to resume the war, Trump responded, “No. It doesn’t mean that. We haven’t thought about it yet.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi is still expected to go to Pakistan after completing his trip to Oman and before traveling to Russia, according to Iran’s Mehr news agency.

Talking to reporters later on Saturday, Trump asserted that Iran “offered a lot but not enough.” He also claimed to have received a more favorable proposal from Tehran just minutes after the cancellation, stating it came “immediately, when I canceled it, within 10 minutes.”

The sudden reversal highlights the confusion surrounding the administration’s recent diplomatic efforts and Trump’s frustration with negotiations not producing quick results.

Washington indefinitely extended the ceasefire with Iran earlier this week, expecting a “unified” proposal from Tehran while keeping a US blockade of Iranian ports in place. The standoff around the Strait of Hormuz has rattled global markets, pushing Brent crude above $100 per barrel, while Trump has made clear that there is no firm timeline for ending the war.

The US president further raised the stakes by saying he had ordered the US Navy to “shoot and kill” any Iranian boats found laying mines in the waterway. Tehran considers the blockade a direct breach of the ceasefire and has argued that any talks are pointless as long as it remains in place.
